Possessive pronouns in the nominative
Possessive pronouns such as meiner (mine), deiner (yours) or unsere (ours) replace a noun that has been mentioned previously. They must have the same gender as that noun.
-Ist das dein Hotel? -Ja, das ist mein(e)s. (das Hotel, neutrum = meins, neutrum)
-Is this your hotel? -Yes, it's mine. (the ‑s ending of meins corresponds to the neuter das Hotel)
-Gehört ihm die Tasche? -Ja, das ist seine. (die Tasche, feminin = seine, feminin)
-Does the bag belong to him? -Yes, it's his. (the ‑e ending of seine corresponds to the feminine die Tasche)
Possessive pronouns take the same endings as definite articles (der, die and das):
